Am I going to Heaven? It's a simple question with a simple answer.
If you believe that you can earn your way into Heaven or live a good enough life to go to Heaven, then NO.
There is no work you can do or payment you can make to earn your way into Heaven.
However, God has provided a way for you to enter Heaven and it is His gift to you.
By receiving this gift, you are guaranteed eternal life and to be with God forever (Heaven).
Intrigued???  Then read on:
How can I receive the gift of eternal life?
When someone truly gives you a gift, you don't do anything to earn it; otherwise it would not be a gift. You can either accept the gift or reject it.
Now the question is, what is the gift and how do you accept it?
The gift is the completed work of Jesus Christ who took the punishment on the cross for your sin.
Sin is what separates you from God. If God is perfect, how do you reconcile yourself with perfection?
Sin is anything that does not live up to God's perfect and holy standard in thought, word and deed!
If you are honest with yourself, you realize that you are not perfect in any of these areas.
Jesus lived the perfect life in your place and took your punishment for your sins.
Justice is satisfied since the penalty for your sin did not go unpunished.
Mercy is given as you did not receive this punishment.
Grace is given because God loves you so much that he sent His own son to die for you, allowing you to have eternal life.
The question now is how do you accept this free gift?
Well, if:
1. you realize you are a sinner as mentioned before, and
2. you're willing to turn away from your sin toward Jesus Christ (also called repentance-literally meaning a change of heart and a change of mind) and
3. you're willing to receive Christ (meaning to trust in and depend on Jesus Christ alone to be the Lord of your life now and your Savior for all eternity)
Then, you have accepted the gift and have eternal life.
Remember, it takes more than just knowledge of who Jesus is (even the devil & demons know about Jesus and tremble Matthew 4:1-11, Mark 5:6-10).
It also takes more than just agreeing that He is God (even the demons agree Jesus is God in the flesh. James 2:19)
What distinguishes you from the devil and the demons is the fact that you put your TRUST in Christ. This is called FAITH which literally translates to "belief-trust".
According to Jesus Christ, those who realize they are sinners, repent of their sins and receive Christ as their savior have been "born again" - not physicaly but spiritually and are guaranteed eternal life! (John 10:28-29, 1 John 5:13, Romans 8:35,38-39, Romans 8:1, Colossians 2:13-14, Psalm 103:12)
In fact, Jesus said this himself, "I tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and believes Him who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life" (John 5:24).
This is why John 3:16 is the most translated verse in the entire Bible -- because it summarizes the answer to eternal life in one sentence!
"For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life."
So have you accepted this gift? Remember, "all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God". (Romans 3:23) Someone has to pay the penalty for your sin. Do you want it to be you or Jesus Christ
Here's one final verse from the book of Romans 10:9-10
"If you confess with your mouth "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved."
If you want to accept God's wonderful gift to you right now, the following prayer may help you:
"Lord Jesus, I need you. I realize that I am a sinner and I understand that my sin separates me from you. I believe that Jesus Christ paid the penalty for all my sins when He died on the cross and rose from the dead. Forgive me and cleanse me. Right this moment, I receive your free gift of eternal life and I trust you as Savior and Lord. Make me the type of person you created me to be. I pray this in Jesus name. Amen"

So What Next?
If you have decided to accept Jesus Christ as your savior, you are now born again. (John 3:3)  Here are a few things that will help you to grow as a Christian...
PRAY—prayer is like a telephone line that goes directly to God. It's important to spend time talking to Him every day, the more the better (Philippians 4:6).
READ THE BIBLE—the Bible is like a love letter from God. The more you read it, the more you'll fall in love with Him (1 Peter 2:2).
FELLOWSHIP—you need to have friends who share your beliefs and who can encourage you. This is why it's so important to find a good, Bible-believing church where you can meet other Christians (Hebrews 10:24-25).
SHARE THE GOOD NEWS—share your faith in Jesus Christ with others. Pray that the Lord will reveal how you can do this and when (Mark 16:15).
God bless you and we pray that you continue to grow closer to the Lord every day!
